What is K172 surf shop?
K172 is an online windsurfing and surfing equipment and lifestyle shop set up by me, Jan Sleigh. My sail number is K172 so it seemed a natural thing to call the site K172 online or something like that as it is pretty easy to remember.
Who is Jan Sleigh?
That’s me! I have been windsurfing since I was about 15 years old. I competed in wave events in the UK for about 12 years or more and had a brief, but fun, stint doing wave events on the PWA tour. I am sponsored by Naish boards and sails, REEF shoes and apparel and Quiksilver wetsuits, eyewear and watches. I love windsurfing more than I can possibly explain and I love the gear that I ride. I am even more passionate about windsurfing now than the day I stepped on a board 24 years ago, and that is why I decided to set up K172, my online shop. I am a real person; I have to go to work, and I work really hard - in fact I work my ass off so that I can go and play even harder and travel round the world looking for wind and waves. I have constantly tried to push myself at work and in my windsurfing and now in surfing. I love what I do and the life that I have and I am proud to be associated with the products I ride and use – so much so that I want to make sure that people get the most out of their windsurfing and surfing, by getting the best advice possible on the best gear possible - so I have set up K172 and now I can not only promote the products but give people advice and help people to decide what Naish product is best for them.
Why Choose K172?
I hope the reason people will choose to buy windsurfing equipment from me is for the expert product knowledge I can provide when people ask about the gear. From your first time on a board, through improving and pushing the boundaries of where you want to go with your windsurfing I believe I can help and give you expert advice. As for clothing, shores, sandals, eyewear, watches and wetsuits – well Reef and Quiksilver offer some of the best and coolest gear around. I have also put together a loyalty scheme – this gives you points when you purchase from K172 and these points are redeemable against future purchases which gives you peace of mind that you are going to get a fair deal.
Who is K172?
K172 is an online windsurfing and surfing retailer. K172 is a trading name and is owned by Hyperdestiny Limited. Hyperdestiny is a Marketing Consultancy established in 1997. Jan Sleigh is a Director of Hyperdestiny Limited and works his nuts off in the mobile, internet and telecommunications industries to support his windsurfing and surfing lifestyle.
Do you sell Naish Kite Boarding Products?
Noop, I don't stock or sell Naish Kite Boarding Products. The reason for this is that I am not a Kite Boarder and I don't have any Kite Boarding knowledge, experience or expertise. My whole premise for setting up this website is that I provide expert knowledge about the products I use and that I sell. As I don't Kite Board I can't claim to do this and therefore decided not to sell the products. I may stock Naish kite surfing products in the future, but this will only be a) if I start to Kite Board and can do it to a level where I can give the high level of product knowledge I believe is required b) I take on an employee or team rider that can give the level of knowledge and service that I have founded this site on.
Do you have any demo kit available?
Yes! You can pretty much demo all of the Boards and Sails I have available. There is occasionally limited availability in some sizes and on some models when stock is low or the products have sold out.
Demo Equipment is available with a small charge of £25 per day. This charge is returnable if you decide to purchase a Board or Sail from K172 and will be taken off the purchase price of your equipment. The charge is in place to ensure that only people who are serious about purchasing a Naish Board or sail demo our equipment.
I also take a credit card swipe as a deposit. This transaction is only completed if the equipment is not returned to me. If you would like to demo any equipment please email jan@K172.co.uk so that I can make arrangements.
Do you do trade ins?
Yes, I do, trade in but only to previous K172 customers.
What is your Loyalty Scheme?
The Loyalty Scheme is simple. Every time you purchase a product from K172 you earn points that you can redeem against a future purchase. You even earn points on the products that you are redeeming against!

Do you have a bricks and mortar shop?
No, not at the moment. I spend a lot of time zooming round the country trying to find the best waves in different and new locations, windsurfing, surfing, tow in surfing and now stand up paddle boarding. This means I am on the road a lot so being tied to a physical location would be a pretty difficult thing for me to do. But I do get to meet lots of people who all share a passion for windsurfing – so if you see me at the beach – say “Hi” and if there is anything you want to know about Naish equipment, Reef or Quiksilver, windsurfing or life the universe and everything just ask!
Do you sponsor anyone?
At the moment no, but I am on the look out! I am keen to find some youngsters to sponsor and give a little boost, and maybe some more established riders – but be warned – I have done the whole sponsorship thing – and I am pretty demanding. I know what I want from my riders in return for sponsorship.
What is Your Account?
Your account is your personal page – this is where you can see what Loyalty Scheme points you have. This is also the page to log in to be able to make your purchase experience quicker and for you to register your details if you a first time buyer.
Why do I need to register?
Once you have registered we are able to offer a more personalised service to help you find the product you need faster, you only need to register once. Registration to the site will also reduce the amount of information you need to fill in the second time you place an order.
Do you accept international orders?
It is only possible to order online from K172 for delivery in the UK
Do you sell names and addresses?
No – we respect our customers’ privacy. We do not pass on any information to third parties
What browser do you recommend?
For optimal performance and fast download times K172 recommends that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or above
I want to cancel my order
Once you have transmitted an order with your credit card details, you cannot cancel it as we will have started processing it ready for delivering to you. Please make sure you are happy with the products you are ordering before you transmit your credit card details.
Credit Card Security
K172 is concerned about security and makes every effort to ensure our transaction process is safe and that your personal information is secure.
K172 transfers all your data using Secure Socket Layers, SSL is an advanced internet security system, to protect the data you provide. K172 will hold all your data on our protected server, which is not accessible by the outside world.
Your credit card will be charged as soon as your goods have been dispatched.
In addition to these security methods for your security we use passwords, IP restrictions and information is stored behind a firewall.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer
Ordering
How do I find what I’m looking for?
At the moment I don’t have a sophisticated search facility embedded into the website however I have tried to make navigation to products you might be interested in as easy as possible. Simply use the navigation menu on the felt and side to find the categories of products I offer and find the products within those categories. I have tried to make this as intuitive as possible.
How do I order?
Once you have found the product you wish to purchase, simply click the “Buy” button. This will take you to the shopping cart where you can change your order. You can continue shopping from here and add more products. If you are not an existing customer you will need to create an account before you check out – so that we can have all the necessary details to send your products to you and also assign loyalty points to your account.

We also accept cheques and bank drafts in £ sterling (these should be made payable to K172), or cash in sterling. Please note that we cannot dispatch orders until cheques have cleared which is normally 3 working days. Cash must be sent by registered post as we cannot be held responsible for non-receipt. Delivery: Expect delivery of all goods within 7 working days*
Your order is sent in strong, padded packaging and does not give our name anywhere on the outside of the package. Our parcels are sent via Royal Mail or Courier.
*If we cannot deliver the goods within 7 working days you will be notified immediately by email and we will let you know what we are doing with your order. You will have the option to cancel if you would rather not wait

Mainland UK only.
Which countries are included in the UK?
The following countries are included in our definition of the UK for delivery purposes: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
How will the order be delivered?
All items delivered will be dispatched using the following postal services: Royal Mail.
For some items, we may decide to send your order to you using a courier service where a signature may be required
Your order is sent in packaging appropriate to the item.
How long will it take to arrive?
To find out when you will receive an item, you need to consider the availability of the item you ordered at the time of ordering. We usually dispatch same day or next day depending on when your order was placed however orders can take up to 7 days*. Usually all items are available and in stock – however some items may be temporarily out of stock or require to be back-ordered. How much will it cost?
K172 includes a cost for postage and packing in the price of a product for mainland UK deliveries.
Returns
How do I return an item?
K172 wants you to be happy with your product, that's why we’ve made it very easy for you to return any item which complies with the conditions below. Goods returned for exchange or refund must in all respects be in the condition you received them. This offer applies for 14 days from the date of purchase and is in addition to your statutory rights. Please remember to always obtain proof of return and keep this in a safe place – we recommend a “Certificate of Posting” which is available free of charge at the Post Office.
If we cannot exchange an item (eg. it is no longer available), we will offer you alternative goods or a refund.
All returned items must be sent back in their original packaging.
To return an item please send unused products in original packaging to K172, Wizards Cottage, 28 Whichers Gate Road, Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, PO9 6BB with the returns form printed on the reverse of the delivery note which accompanied your order.
Postage is non refundable unless a refund is due.
For non faulty returns an admin charge of at least £25 will be made. This charge is to cover our handling and postage costs, in the event a product has incurred us a higher postage charge we reserve the right to charge more.
To return an item, follow the instructions on the reverse of the delivery note which accompanied your order.
